Many of us tend to warm up left overs and consume it for the second or even the third time. However, there are foods that can be consumed after warming them, but there are also some of them which can do a lot of damage to your organism after reheated and consumed.
These 7 foods, for instance, could give you food poisoning or worse if reheated or stored improperly.
Eat these foods right after they are cooked to ensure the most safety for consumption;
Chicken
Chicken, like mushrooms, contains proteins that react negatively when reheated. When cold chicken is heated for the second time, the protein composition changes, which can lead to digestive problems. If you must reheat your chicken, make sure that it is completely cooked, and the inside is steaming hot. The best way to consume leftover chicken is to add it in a cold salad or sandwich.
Spinach
Spinach is loaded with iron and nitrates. When you reheat Popeye’s favourite food, the nitrates convert into nitrites and other cancer causing elements, thus making it inedible.
Eggs
This comes as a surprise, but even eggs fall into this list. In fact, they can prove to be deadly if they are warmed at higher temperatures. If you add eggs during preparation, they are not going to do any harm. But when you reheat boiled or fried eggs, they can be very dangerous!
Mushrooms
These are the most harmful foods when reheated. Never store mushrooms in the fridge. Just consume them right after you have prepared them. Even if you must store them for the next day, make sure you don’t reheat them. It can otherwise develop digestive and heart complications.
Potatoes
Potatoes are highly nutritional. But when we reheat them, they lose most of their properties, and can even become toxic. That’s why it is better to eat potatoes immediately after preparation (or you can also eat them cold).
Beets
Like spinach, beets also contain nitrates that becoming extremely harmful with reheating. This does not mean that you cannot eat this food from the other, but only that it does not need to be reheate.
Celery
Celery with its high nitrate content can become toxic if you heat it the second time and eat it. People usually use celery to prepare soups. Just like spinach, celery also contains nitrates that transform into nitrites after being reheated. If you’ve made a soup with celery in it, you should either eat the whole soup immediately, or remove the celery before you warm the soup. The same thing goes for carrots.
