Sadie Sink has admitted she was taken aback by the amount of speculation about her top-secret Spider-Man: Brand New Day character, despite growing up watching the MCU.
"It was so exciting," Sink told Fandango of joining the cast of the fourth Spider-Man movie. "I grew up watching these movies. So, to join – it was very surreal." She joked: "I really like the character and that's all I'll say!"
On the topic of her mystery role in Brand New Day, Sink added, "I didn't realize there would be this much speculation. That really surprised me."
Right now, Sink's character is among Brand New Day's biggest puzzlers. While most fans believe the Stranger Things star is playing fellow redhead Jean Grey, it's not something we're going to find out until release. However, the movie's synopsis pointing towards an out-of-sight villain lurking in the wings suggests that there could at least be someone with psychic powers going up against Tom Holland's Spidey.
Something that is far more familiar for Sink is working with director Destin Daniel Cretton once more – even if this superhero-centric role is worlds away from playing a poverty-stricken teenager in 2017's The Glass Castle.
"That was such a full circle moment," Sink recalled. "I worked with him on one of the first movies I ever did when I was 14… He was always just the same as he is now: Just such a leader [and] makes you feel so comfortable."
Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which Holland has described as his best Spidey movie yet, sees the wallcrawler take to the streets alongside Jon Bernthal's Punisher as several threats seemingly converge on the Big Apple. It's set for release on July 31, marking a busy period for both Tom Holland and Zendaya as they also appear in July's The Odyssey.
