Matt Smith still doesn't know if the House of the Dragon writers will give Daemon a book-faithful Gods Eye: "It's surely got to head there"

House of the Dragon season 3 promises to open with the brutal and bloody Battle of the Gullet, but there's one other showdown fans are dying to see.

In George R.R. Martin's Fire and Blood, Daemon faces off against Aemond above a lake in Westeros named the Gods Eye, and it's safe to say it's epic.

Considering House of the Dragon season 4 will bring the show to an end, SFX magazine asked Matt Smith, who plays Daemon, if he's had conversations about his character's ultimate fate (which we won't spoil here).

"Kind of. They don’t really tell you what elements they're going to write about," Smith said. "Sometimes I thought maybe they would follow this line of the book, and they chose not to, so you just don't really know. Whether I agree with that or not, it's above my pay grade, really. I just get the scripts, hopefully as early as you can, and then try and influence them creatively through the character and as an actor in the most interesting way. But I still don't know. But there are big bookmarks."

When asked specifically about fan hopes of seeing the Gods Eye brought to life, Smith shared: "One assumes they're headed there, but you never know. It's quite present in the story, isn't it? Even in the book, it's been illustrated. It's surely got to head there, but I'm not privy to the details of it until the script. But I'm going to cross my fingers too."

We'll just have to wait and see how Gods Eye turns out in the show. For now, House of the Dragon season 3 arrives this June 21 in the US on HBO, and June 22 in the UK on HBO Max, Sky, and NOW.
